The Chanel Empire is unstoppable. Every year the designs are extraordinary and they still keep to the basics features of the brand. 2011 Celebrates women and the gowns are stylish, sophisticated and timeless.
Coco grew up very poor and she built the business from scratch. She started a shop in 1913’s and sold limited stock. Her sportswear was popular. She mainly used wool for her first designs due to the low cost. Coco found inspiration in menswear. Her short skirts and feminine pants made her famous. During World War II she found a solution for more practical female clothes and this made her more popular in her field.
The headquarters was established in Paris. Chanel used her experience as a modern female to her advantage because she was able to create her own style and taste. Passion drove her business and she started using her favorite colors black, white and beige. Her “little Black dress” made her famous in the late 1920’. Women around the world are still grateful for this specific design due to the fact that is can be used as an evening gown or as a day dress.
Lace and tweed was brought in later. Coco Chanel passed away in 1971. Only in 1983 did the haute couture design come alive again after Karl Langerfeld took over. He used previous designs that made the company famous and combined it with is own vision and was able to revive the collection. He uses Coco’s work to inspire him. The 2011 summer collection is breathtaking. Black chiffon dresses accessorized with strings of pearls brings the Charleston era to life. Tie-dye blouses with soft flowing skirts add a romantic feel to the range.
The Chanel Empire sets the trend for women fashion. The label has evolved into combining old with the new and ensuring that the Chanel legacy lives on. Chanel No5 fragrance captures this because it is the first perfume that she designed and is the highest selling product in the industry. It is hard to believe that Chanel was able to build an empire in a limited amount of time. Many people say that Chanel is successful today due to the Karl’s capability of taking two separate eras and combining it into one desirable fashion. He also extended the range and a person is able to buy cosmetics, handbags, watches etc from the world renowned boutiques
